We are looking for a UK based Technical Sales Manager with strong experience of selling technical injection moulding process training or electronic software / data capture systems to plastics manufacturers. EXPIRES 01/05/18

A home based role, this is an exceptional role to work with a market recognised & established Polymer company. 


Job Brief: 

For this excellent Technical Sales role we are seeking either Sales professionals 

(Sales Manager or Sales Engineer) to sell the company’s vast product range across all UK territories. Additionally this post will also suit Sales Engineer or Sales Managers with solid experience of technical plastic injection moulding processes, products & services, OR electronic devices used to optimise Injection moulding machining processes. 


Successful applicants should be self-motivated and target driven, possess good commercial or sales skills, and have good engineering education.

Responsible for:

  • As the Sales Manager regard the achievements and objectives of the business as a personal responsibility and his staff as a resource to be flexed and managed as necessary to fulfil this responsibility
  • To interpret and communicate the company sales strategy by means of consistent strategy statements and team briefings as required in liaison with the management team
  • To ensure sales schedules are maintained which comprehensively and accurately underpin the Sales budget and targets
  • To ensure that the standard of staff are to the company requirements and that adequate training and supervision is provided to meet the business goals
  • To recommend, establish and maintain the technology base required to support the effective operation of the function
  • To act as a Management Team Member, supporting fellow managers by clear honest communication and functional achievements
  • Ensure that the alignment of sales strategy and technical support is achieved and maintained within the Group and liaise with your colleagues at the company to achieve this
  • To share in the strategic vision of the management team and ensure functions develop and operations are compatible with the company aims and objectives
  • To keep abreast of developments in the industry and ensure a sound knowledge and application of requirements within the business with respect to received market intelligence and customer feedback
  • Manage the sales and technical support functions within the business to deliver the service expected by the customer
  • Maintaining and managing the documentation procedure for recording sales
  • Reporting progress against plan to the monthly management meeting
  • Reporting the future sales pipeline accurately to ensure resource allocation both in terms of people and cash flow can deliver
  • Developing a team approach to account management, led by the Sales Manager, to ensure training consulting and product are maximised into each major account using other management and technical resources to support the sales process e.g. Managing Director, Training Manager and Consulting Manager


Main Duties:

  • To promote and conclude sales of the company’s products and services in the UK and Ireland
  • On occasions, sales visits may need to be made outside of the specified area at the discretion of the Managing Director
  • To achieve the personal annual forecast and grow the business year on year
  • To maintain a sound commercial structure for costing decisions providing a realistic pricing structure in discussion with the Managing director
  • To establish continuous dialogue with customers to maintain current partnerships and customer care philosophy
  • Prepare quotations relative to enquiries generated, requesting support from strategic functions to achieve this when required
  • Ensure quotations are followed up within one week of completion and establish a potential conversion percentage providing a pipeline overview for the Managing Director
  • Develop the annual Sales Targets that will strategically contribute to the growth of the business
  • Ensure that the enquiry data-base for accounts/quotations is maintained, requesting support from strategic functions to achieve this when required
  • Be proactive in providing positive responses to the day-to-day challenges that arise seeking solutions rather than highlighting problems ensuring customer requirements are main focus
  • Ensure that the technical support function meets the needs of the customers as required
  • Prepare sales presentations, forecasts and information as required by the business
  • Ensure that the team managed by you apply best practice solutions under your guidance to customers’ requirements
  • Identify and action training needs for your team to maintain technical leadership of the all areas of the business
  • Ensure continuous improvement, 5s and KBI (Key Business Initiatives) are understood by your team and maintained


Other Duties:

  • Flexibility to assist in the strategic goals of the business
  • To manage expense claims of his team to be within company policy guidelines
  • Plan and prepare customer visits at least two weeks in advance taking into consideration the cost to the business
  • Keeping up to date with product developments in training, material and processes by reading relevant journals, going to meetings and trade shows as required by the business
  • To support the businesses desired commercial goals and customer requirements in respect of cost, quality and delivery
  • Support marketing initiatives of the business attending trade shows and as required giving technical presentations
  • Duties as deemed reasonable by Directors to ensure business success
